There’s a superstition in Korea that visiting the Hyatt lounge in Seoul can boost your money luck. I’m Korean Unni, and I went to try it myself so you don’t have to guess how it works.

What Is the Hyatt Seoul Money Luck Superstition?
The Grand Hyatt Seoul sits in the Yongsan area, and it’s said to be a feng shui hotspot. Many people say their luck improved after visiting, and the idea has spread by word of mouth and on social media.
Whether you believe it or not, it’s a fun look at how luck and everyday life mix in Korea.

How to Do the Ritual, Step by Step
This is the order I followed:
1. Go to the lounge
The lounge has a stunning open view, so it’s worth sitting down and taking it in.

2. Order a drink and a dessert
This is part of the ritual as people describe it.

3. Visit the restroom
The belief is that this helps you get rid of bad luck.

4. Touch the stone on the pillar
This is the most important part. People say it brings money luck.

Is It Worth the Price?
Honestly, it’s pricey. When I went, a coffee was about ₩17,000 and a tiramisu was in the ₩20,000 range, so one drink and one dessert came to roughly ₩37,000–40,000. Prices can change, so treat this as a rough guide. That’s well above a regular cafe, and the taste was pretty average. What you’re really paying for is the view and the experience.

If you only want a nice city view, there are cheaper options. If you like trying local rituals, it can still be a fun stop. Budget a bit extra on that day, and check my Seoul travel budget guide to see where it fits.

Does It Actually Work?
I don’t know yet. I touched the stone, and I’ll share an update if my luck really improves.
True or not, Koreans love little luck rituals. Before big exams, people give each other sticky rice cakes (chapssal-tteok) because the answers are supposed to “stick.” Touching a lucky stone is the same kind of small, playful hope.
Planning Your Visit
📍 Grand Hyatt Seoul Lobby Lounge
Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul
Open in Google Maps
Google Maps is fine for pinning the spot, but its directions don’t work well in Korea, so use Naver Map or Kakao Map to get there. I explain the difference in my Naver Map vs. Kakao Map guide.
